222 crimes against women & children in 34 days

I have been waiting for a moment/cases like these (Case in point Mr. Tejpal & the Modi-Shah keeping tabs on a woman on Dad's request.

For the last month and a few dates I stopped posting crimes against women & children updates... I have been collecting them instead. 222 as of today in about 34 days not including alot of what I felt was false cases etc...

ZOYA’S NOTE TO HERSELF, ABOUT HERSELF

This entry always intrigued me as to what was it that drove her to this immense sense of despair... What made Zoya think so little of her... she wrote this two years before she died... I found it buried deep in that wooden box she left me... a forgotten but important insight into what she thought of herself...

“Have I every belonged anywhere in my life is the question I ask myself often. Have I ever felt as if I am a part of anything? 

As the years the go by and as often I go back to the question I realise I never have and may be never will be. I have always felt as if I don't belong... always felt like a misfit... 

Always felt afar from my surroundings. 

And then there are the hours… the hours that I cant overcome… the hours that are a losing battle… hours that never end!!!

It is these hours that very often lead me to asking myself if there's something wrong with me or if may be I'm actually insane!

I look at myself and realise I haven't achieved a single thing in 30 years of my existence... I have not fulfilled any dream, nor even touched the edge of the future I envisioned when I was growing up.

I make people up in my mind, talk in their voice, voice their thoughts to myself, but I fail to put them ‎on paper... I used to think I could write and that one day may be I’ll write book and I slowly see that vision too failing... 

I used to think I read a lot and was more aware than a lot of people, but off late I feel its a perception I made of myself, to make myself more acceptable to me...

Everything I ever thought about myself, seems to now be a lie, a figment of my own imagination and then I ask myself am I sane anymore or was I ever sane!” 

9 YEARS WAITING FOR A VINDICATION... KILLED BECAUSE OF HER FAITH... ISHRAT JAHAN RAZA A YOUNG GIRL OF 19

It takes 9 years for the country to get to know that an innocent 19 year old girl was not a terrorist and did not intend to kill Narender Modi... 

She was killed and accused of being a terrorist because her name was 'Ishrat Jahan Raza'; because she called the Almighty 'Allah' and because she was in Gujrat with other 'suspected' terrorist... 

Proven repeatedly that the encounter was fake and also the plot to kill the king was made up by the IB head already accused for another fake encounter...

Do we the 'Sovereign, Democratic, Republic' of India have an answer to give to this little girl's family as to why we chose to take away a bread earner and young life without any proof! Can we look into their eyes and apologies for putting them through the trauma they have lived with for the last 9 years...

Is there a medicine that the great Mr. Modi and the wonderful BJP have to heal the wounds of this poor family???

Did anyone take out a minute without the intention of sensationalism to try and get to know what the aspirations of this 19 years old girl were... what her fears were and what her hope were. 

We all sat as mute spectators as the police and politicians jumped up and down to claim victory of ridding the country of another Islamic Militant... when all it was, was a girl not even out of her teens...

Does our collective consciousness allow us to sit and watch many more such encounters or is it time we take a stand!!!

HOW NOT TO SAVE A LIFE

“She learnt a long time back that as hard as you might try and fit in, if you are not meant to, you never will.

How will you fit into a place where you don’t understand the people? Fitting into a world that does not understand simple acts of kindness or nicety and only view it as an attempt to impress or gain some extra favours.

She often sat and wondered if the world was really that stupid or was it just so self absorbed that if you did not confirm t its standard of thinking or were different there was no place for you.

She never really fit in anywhere. She never belonged here. She was forever lonely, more often than not misunderstood and used. No one remembered her in moments of joy but only in moments of sadness as the one shoulder always there.

Probably the thing that was killing Zoya all along more was not the cigarettes, the coffee or the excessive alcohol, but the immense feeling of loneliness and not being understood… Having no one who would take out a minute to look into her eyes and see the longing to be wanted for more than the shoulder for support.

Old and new friendships, family, and colleagues - no one knew her. All they knew about her was she was always there but no one ever knew how to be there for her. Somehow they never really understood what she needed, more often than not a simple hug.

Flipping through the pages of her life, I realize that the rust of loneliness was slowly damaging the core of her soul and soon it had hollowed her existence and eventually killed her over the 30 odd years of her life.

That void consumed her and saddens me more now when I go one further thru the pages of Zoya’s life.

I wish I had known her more while she was alive; I might have been able to help her know that while it was alright to be alone sometimes, there were some who did want to understand her more.

But I never mustered the courage and may be I never actually understood her while she was alive. After all too am a part of this cruel unkind world!

May be if I had reached out a little earlier, I might have saved a life…”

CAN WE MAKE A CHANGE OR NOT????

Six months back, India and Delhi especially erupted into mass protest because of young girl who was called 'Nirbhaya'... Six months down the line all of us are sitting silently even though every day we here not only of women, but little girls being brutalized, raped and damaged...

How can we all sit silent? Not only do I ask everyone else, I ask myself too? How can we all sit silent... May be it is time we all fight one battle a day? One protest a day?

2014 is not far away and may be it is time we force those in power to do something more!
